Behind the Blog || Ruth from Ruth in Revolt

Welcome back to the third post in this little series of mine. I am so happy to have Ruth a part of this series as I follow her on twitter and her blog. She is an amazing blogger who always supports the blogging community. As normal all of my questions will be in pink and Ruth’s answers in black.

Question 1- What is the meaning behind your blog?

Well, when I started it, it was created to be a space where I could talk about my mental health struggles. I wanted others to know they weren’t alone, and that it was okay to ask for help. Since getting help for my anxiety and depression, I was finally thinking clearer and decided to give writing on a public platform a go. It’s still that in some ways, but it’s kind of grown into a place where I’m just trying to make people feel good. I also offer blogging tips to encourage others to be the best they can be at this. So, now, my tagline is “your personal cheerleader, on a one-woman mission to
make your life brighter and your blog better” which just about sums it up.

Question 2- If you could only travel to one place in the world where would it be and why?

I would love to take my mum to Canada. I’d like to see it myself, but it’s been her dream for a very long time, and it would make my life complete if I could do that for her.

Question 3- What has been your biggest struggle in life?

My low self-esteem and struggling with my body. This is still going on now, and I’m 27. I had hoped I’d grow out of it and that it was just a phase when I was a teenager but it’s an ongoing battle which brings me a lot of emotional pain. It’s very difficult to go about your life when you hate the body you’re in. There are days when I forget about it, and then there are others when I sit and cry because I think none of my clothes look right, that I’m fat and I truly hate my face. I hope eventually, I’ll be able to at least feel comfortable in my skin, rather than not being able to look at
myself in the mirror.

Question 4- Who is your biggest inspiration?

My mum, without a doubt. She has a heart of gold and is the sweetest person on the planet. I’ve truly never met anyone else quite like her. She will do anything for anyone and is a bundle of positivity and light. I try every day to be a little more like her. Not only is she an incredible person, but she’s been a wonderful mum. She’s always been there when I’ve needed her and has the right thing to say to put a smile on my face. Despite facing challenges of her own, she’s always gone out of her way to put me and my siblings first. I couldn’t have wished for anyone better to lead me through life. If I ever have children of my own someday, I’ve got a high standard to live up to.

Question 5- Name one annoying habit you have.

Biting my nails and/or picking the skin around them. I’m going to have to try and stop because I’m getting braces fitted soon, but my boyfriend’s been trying to get me to stop ever since we’ve been together, and it’s been a year and a half so far…

This was really cool to read. I never would of guessed Ruth also had a self esteem problem with her body like me.
